  • Adjusting Film Type

  • DirectVistaTM Paper Media Installation

  • Soft Shutdown
    Front-panel shutdown feature. It is very important to perform a soft shutdown before switching the printer off.
  • Calibration Profile Update Diskette
    Describes how to load the NP-1660 thermal printhead Calibration Profile Update Diskette. NOTE: Before loading the diskette it is necessary to enter an activation key in the form "99printheadserialnumber00." The print head serial number is a 6-digit alphanumeric found on the calibration diskette.

  • Image Polarity
    An extension to the Gamma color management setting which allows image colors to be inverted. Black is mapped to white, and vice-versa.
  • Advanced Queuing Keys
    A new feature which allows the user to enter an Activation key specifying the type of media that color and grayscale images will be printed on when using DICOM or magneto-optical drives.
  • Media-Based User Preferences
    Allows Gamma, Contrast, Scaling, etc. to be specified for each media type from the front panel or via logical device 0.
  • Advanced Queueing
    Allows jobs to be processed and held until the correct media is loaded in the printer. Simplifies printing when using both DirectVistatm and ChromaVistatm media types.
  • Job Preferences
    An extension to logical devices which allows media type, size, color management and image processing options to be specified per print job.

  • Fixed Multiformatting (FMF)
    An explanation of Fixed Multiformatting, the easy-to-use way to place multiple images on a single page.
  • FTP
    How to send images to the printer using FTP.
  • Gamma Correction
    Discusses the effects of gamma correction. The printer ships with a default gamma of 1.0, which many users find to be too dark. Usually, gammas between 1.5 and 2.5 work well.
  • ImageSense
    Imagesense is the technology that allows the printer to automatically recognize various file formats.
  • ImageWeb Integrated Printer Web Server
    An introduction to ImageWeb, the Netscape interface for uploading images to the Codonics NP-1600 and 1660.
  • Level-0 Reset
    Explains the function of a level-0 reset; in a nutshell, it returns the printer to its original configuration.
  • Logical Devices
    Introduces the various Logical or Virtual Devices on the Codonics printer and how to access them using LPR or FTP.
  • LPR and LP

  • Media Loading, International Version
    Includes instructions in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish for installing media into the NP-1600 series printers.
  • Medical Color Matching (MCM)
    Medical Color Matching is an image quality setting designed to match prints made from the Codonics printer to the images displayed on the monitors, particularly medical images.
  • NT 4.0 Driver Installation
    Instructions for installing the NT 4.0 driver, including LPR print services, on a Codonics printer. This driver will not work for NT workstations running on an Alpha processor. Please contact Codonics for more information if you are using NT for DEC Alpha.
  • Parallel Interface
    Configuring the printer to receive images using the parallel interface. Also includes instructions for command-line copying to the parallel port.
  • Paper and Transparency Sizes
    Lists the various media sizes available for the NP-1600 printer and their printable areas. Please contact Codonics for information on extra-long-wide and film medias for the NP-1660.
  • PostScript Antialiasing
    Antialiasing is a technique used to improve the look of text for PostScript images. If text is printing blocky or pixellated antialiasing can help smooth it out.
  • Soft Shutdown
    Software Release 1.6.0 and higher only: Front-panel shutdown feature. It is very important to perform a soft shutdown before switching the printer off.
  • Telnet
    Telnet is an indispensable tool for troubleshooting printing problems from the NP series printers.
  • TrueColorRendering (TCR)
    True-Color Rendering is an image correction used to desaturate prints.
  • Update Diskette Installation Procedure
    How to install an update diskette.
  • User Preferences
    User preferences allow each user to apply different gamma, contrast, TCR, etc. from the front-panel settings.
  • Variable Multiformatting (VMF)
    Variable Multiformatting allows the greatest possible control over placing, scaling individually, and overlaying images on a page.
